WCG Sunday Livestream: NFL Week 3 – Chicago Bears vs. Indianapolis Colts

Good morning, folks.

We knew Caleb Williams’ first season with the Chicago Bears would bring some setbacks for the rookies, and if they want to be in the game, the first two weeks are the best times to do so.

One simply assumes that they are not necessarily incompetent in their offensive.

Sunday night’s game against the Houston Texans was nothing like Bears fans expected the rookie to be, but it’s also a reminder to take a deep breath and remember that quarterbacks don’t usually start their first two games, so prepare for tonight’s game against the Indianapolis Colts.

As bad as Williams’ seven sacks and two late interceptions were, there was a clear improvement and many good performances in the first half. Today should be another step in that development.

In a classic case of moving power meets a resistant object, the Navy and Orange were absolutely terrible at running the ball, relying on D’Andre Swift and drawn-out outside plays, and the Colts’ defense today is all about giving everything on the ground to anyone who asks for it. If there’s one game where a rush offense that didn’t give Khalil Herbert regular play to begin with can bounce back, it’s this one. For the Bears to win and for Caleb to have the best chance of healthy development, a balanced offense would be a good place to start.

To 2:1. Bear down, my friends.

Today’s WCG Sunday live stream is back together and uninterrupted. Last Sunday was bad, but there are still plenty of opportunities for William’s development and it’s far too early for us to panic about the bigger picture.

Of course, if you want to spread panic and/or tell us how wrong we are, there are ways to do that too:

  • This comment thread, down here, in this post.
  • Over on Twitch, over here.
  • On social media: Twitter (@WCGridiron, @SamHouseholder, @SJS_illini) and BlueSky (@sjsillini, @samhouseholder)

We’ll be live at 9:30am CT. See you then!
