We are tracking pleasant weather for the last day of September

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Pleasant weather awaits us as we end September and welcome October this week. Expect sun and clouds each day with afternoon highs in the 80s and overnight lows in the 60s. Mostly dry weather is expected to start the week, with rain chances returning as we head into the weekend.

It’s fresh outside the door this morning. Temperatures will be around 60°C with patchy fog and light fog. A mix of sun and clouds is expected through this afternoon, with afternoon highs warming into the upper to mid 80s. An isolated shower is possible today, but the majority will remain dry. Winds are blowing from the west at about 5 miles per hour. There will be plenty of clouds overnight, with lows around 60 degrees and light winds.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be copies of each other. The start of October will see sunshine and a few clouds, afternoon highs will be in the mid to upper 80s, and nighttime lows will be in the 60s. Mainly dry conditions are expected through midweek, changing by the end of the week.

We will be tracking a front from Wednesday to Thursday. This front will stall just south of us and lift slightly northward through the weekend. This will draw Gulf moisture into the region, creating low chances of rain in the region starting Friday and continuing into the weekend.

Highs will remain in the 80s Friday through the weekend, with overnight lows in the 60s. It will be cloudy, with some sunshine. It doesn’t look like a washout at the moment, but all I know is that showers are possible this weekend.

On the Trail of the Tropics: The Atlantic Ocean is a busy place these days. Tropical Storm Isaac and Tropical Depression Joyce are swirling over the North and Central Atlantic, respectively. None of these will threaten the United States. Two groups of storms could also develop off the West African coast in the coming week.

In the western Caribbean, a group of thunderstorms is showing slow development potential this week as they move northwest toward the southern Gulf of Mexico. It is far too early to even speculate on the future strength or development of this system, but given its close proximity, it is worth keeping an eye on. We’ll have a much clearer picture as the week progresses, so check back for updates.
