West Ham 2-1 Man United (Oct 27, 2024) Match analysis

Jarrod Bowen scored a last-gasp penalty to give West Ham United a 2-1 Premier League victory over Manchester United in a turbulent clash between two struggling teams on Sunday.

Crysencio Summerville scored his first goal in a West Ham shirt as the team climbed past their visitors to 13th in the table after nine games with 11 points, the same number as Manchester United in 14th.

The defeat increases pressure on United coach Erik ten Hag as his team struggles for results in the league and in Europe. They have won one of their last eight games across all competitions.

Bowen netted in the 92nd minute, converting from the penalty spot after a lengthy VAR review revealed Matthijs de Ligt had grazed Danny Ings’ leg.

West Ham were fortunate not to concede a goal in the first half, which was dominated by their northern opposition, but were much better in the second half when Summerville secured the win in the 74th minute when they were with slid into the goal with full force and Ings’ deflected shot shot into the goal.

Seven minutes later, Casemiro silenced the home fans when Diogo Dalot headed over from a cross, Joshua Zirkzee assisted and the Brazilian midfielder nodded home at the back post.

However, the cheering of the traveling fans was short-lived as the guests were unable to secure a draw.
