When will the new West Bradenton Target open? Here’s everything you need to know about the store

After four years of waiting, a new Target will finally open in West Bradenton this summer.

The retailer has set Sunday, August 18, as the date to open its doors and begin shopping at Beachway Plaza, 7350 Manatee Ave. W.

Here’s everything you need to know about the opening of the store in Bradenton.

What is planned for the new destination Bradenton?

Under construction since 2020, the Beachway Plaza store will be Bradenton’s second Target. It is home to a former Kmart, and Target has spent years renovating the space.

Original plans called for a 4,600-square-foot store, but Target increased the size to 7,200 square feet in 2023.

This is a mid-sized store for Target. Future Target stores in Florida will range in size from 30,000 to over 150,000 square feet.

The store will include a CVS pharmacy, a wine and liquor store, and a pickup area.

Other Target stores in the Bradenton area

Bradenton’s original Target store is located at 6150 14th St. W. in Bayshore Gardens, and another store is located south of Manatee County at 101 N. Cattlemen Road in University Town Center.

Target has also confirmed plans for a third location in Manatee County. The large, 148,000-square-foot store is planned for 725 Lighthouse Drive in the Marketplace at the Heritage Harbor shopping center near Interstate 75 and State Road 64.

An opening date has not yet been announced, but the Heritage Harbor location is listed under “Future Store Openings” on the company’s website.

“We are excited to offer new guests in the Bradenton community an easy, affordable and convenient shopping experience with two new Target stores,” a Target spokesperson said in an email. “As we get closer to the opening of the two stores, we will share more specific details – including how the shopping experience will be tailored to local guests and when the opening dates will be.”
