Where UNC Basketball Stands in the Packed Niko Bundalo Sweepstakes

Prolific Prep (Calif.) forward Niko Bundalo welcomed UNC basketball head coach Hubert Davis and two Tar Heels assistants to his school on Tuesday, 247Sports’ Travis Branham reported.

Bundalo, No. 23 in the 247Sports 2025 Composite, plans to select a winner from his top nine before his final season begins in early November, in time for the early signing period.

Not only are the Tar Heels now among the finalists – along with Michigan State, UConn, Texas, Pitt, Ohio State, Xavier, Kentucky and the recently added Kansas – but Davis and his team are also one of the few programs he wants to visit before making his decision.

The 6-foot-10, 215-pound five-star, a lifelong Tar Heel fan because his Chicago-native mother loved Michael Jordan, has taken official visits to UConn and Michigan State over the past two weekends. He will visit Ohio State on Sept. 21 and 22 before heading to Chapel Hill for his UNC basketball tour the first weekend in October.

While Bundalo has confirmed that he is also eyeing trips to Kansas and Kentucky, likely sometime in October, at least for now, his announced list of official visits shows that his UNC basketball suitors are last in line.

“From my research, UNC has always been a really good school for guys at the four,” Niko Bundalo Branham said earlier this summer. “They’ve had really versatile fours and over the last few years they’ve had some really high-level guards. And for me, that was a really big incentive.”

“The opportunity to play in a four-man team with a really good guard puts a sparkle in your eye.”
