Wichita’s College Hill neighborhood is ready for another spooky Halloween

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – People across the country – and here in Wichita – are celebrating Halloween.

Whether you’re flaunting your costume or trick-or-treating, we’ve got you covered from all the spooky angles.

One neighborhood often known for its Halloween displays is Wichita’s College Hill, and this year is no different. The decorations there become more creative and innovative every year.

Some quick reminders for your Thursday night trick-or-treaters: Be sure to check all candy before your kids eat it. Once unpacked, throw it away. Since it gets dark around 7 p.m., it’s a good idea to add reflective tape to your child’s costume.

The following applies to drivers: be particularly careful and drive more slowly.

Alexis Phillips is a long-time resident of College Hill. She said the neighborhood takes pride in going all out for Halloween every year.

“I’ve been everywhere on Halloween, I’ve been in Salem (Massachusetts) on Halloween and there’s nothing like a Halloween in College Hill,” Phillips said. “It’s like a scene from a movie. It started as the epicenter on Broadview, and now more blocks have been added. It’s magical what you can find when you walk through this neighborhood. People are really buying.”

A reminder for those planning to trick-or-treat in College Hill: There will be several road closures in the area from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m
