Winners and losers of the 26-25 loss of the Cincinnati Bengals against the Kansas City Chiefs

KANSAS-CITY — The Bengals lost 26-25 to the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday.

Here are our winners and losers of the defeat:

winner

Trey Hendrickson

Hendrickson nearly ruined the game and led the Bengals to victory. He finished the game with four tackles (two for loss), two sacks and multiple penalties. He was a spoiler, but it still wasn’t enough.

Hendrickson is one of the most underrated pass rushers in the NFL. The Chiefs benched rookie left tackle Kingsley Suamataia for Wanya Morris in the fourth quarter because Hendrickson dominated that matchup.

Bengals tight ends

The Bengals’ tight ends combined to catch 14 passes for 151 yards. Mike Gesicki led the way with seven catches for 91 yards. Erick All had his first NFL catch and finished the game with four catches for 32 yards. The trio of Gesicki, All and Drew Sample kept the Bengals’ offense in rhythm for most of the game.

loser

Bengals Defensive Tackles

The Bengals have lost both of their defensive tackles to hamstring injuries. Hopefully BJ Hill and Sheldon Rankins will recover quickly. If they can’t play, Cincinnati’s defense will be as thin as any team in the league. They are already playing without rookies Kris Jenkins and McKinnley Jackson.

Daijah Anthony

Whether you liked the call or not, the defensive pass interference penalty put the Chiefs in a position to win the game. Anthony was trying to make a play and it was a tough call for the referee, but he made it. Anthony has proven himself and will have better days, but today was a rough day for the rookie.

Bengal in September

The Bengals continue to have slow starts. This is the third straight season they have started 0-2.

They rebounded, made the AFC Championship Game in 2022 and finished last season with a win, but they put themselves in a difficult position.

In 2022, they won two games in a row and evened their record to 2-2 before facing the Baltimore Ravens in Week 5. Cincinnati plays Washington and Carolina in Weeks 3 and 4 before hosting the Ravens in Week 5. Will history repeat itself?
