With this Weber grill accessory I ate the best chicken in a long time

I love a good old-fashioned barbecue. One of my highlights of the summer season is firing up the best grill and enjoy incredible amounts of delicious food with family and friends – and I found the best grilling accessories to help me make the tastiest chicken ever.

Despite the fickle weather the UK has experienced this summer, I have used my grill come rain or shine. The grill in question is the Weber Spirit Classic E-330 GBS gas grill, which I have given five stars in my Weber Spirit Classic E-330 GBS gas grill review and it won a special award in the Best Barbecue category at this year’s T3 Awards.

As the name suggests, the Weber Spirit Classic E-330 GBS gas grill is a gas-powered grill and while there is a heated debate about whether gas or Charcoal is the best way to cook, I personally enjoy the ease and convenience of gas. The griddles and three burners cook your food to perfection and make it crispy, as well as giving it that authentic barbecue flavor.

I’ve been using the Weber Spirit Classic E-330 GBS gas grill all summer long, making pretty much every type of grilled food imaginable, including burgers, sausages, skewers, corn on the cob, and more. But I’ve found that I’m not the best at cooking chicken on the grill, as it often comes out a little too burnt and tough.

But after attending a Weber event earlier this year, I was kindly given the Weber poultry roaster and I’ve been testing it out for the past few weeks. It has completely solved my tough chicken problems and has become my most used grilling accessory.

The Weber Poultry Roaster is a 2-in-1 grill accessory designed specifically for Weber Gourmet BBQ System grill grates. The stainless steel roaster has a round shape with a liquid container in the middle that can be removed to become a full pan for vegetables and side dishes.

Leaving the container in the center is the ideal option for roasting chicken because the bird sits above the liquid-filled center. The liquid container keeps the inside moist during the cooking process while the smoke from the grill crisps up the outside.

I tested the Weber Poultry Holder by cooking chicken from a beer can. I put a can of beer in the middle container and placed the bird on top. I have to say that this is the easiest way to cook chicken from a beer can – let’s face it, stuffing a chicken or any kind of bird is not a particularly pleasant task – but with the Weber Poultry Holder it was much easier… and less gross.

After cooking my chicken for over an hour using the Weber Poultry Roaster, it was so juicy and tender that it fell off the bone while the skin was still crispy and had that signature grilled flavor. During grilling, the inside of my grill got quite smoky, however, since I didn’t wrap the chicken with vegetables, this may have increased the smoke.

When it came to taking it out, the Weber Poultry Grill was easy to move and remove from the grill thanks to its side handles. It was also easy to clean, although it is not as silvery or shiny as it was before use, but that is not entirely unusual when grilling.
