You’ll be either impressed or angry when you find out where “Pool” belongs in today’s NYT Connections groups

Hey, Connections fans – it’s that time again. Today’s Sunday puzzle isn’t quite as challenging as the notoriously difficult Sunday Times crossword, but it’s no picnic either. It’s a great way to end the weekend – and of course, it gets you imagining what the Nintendo Switch 2 will be like. (OK, maybe there are better things to do.)

In the meantime, your daily sweet 16 words are back, waiting for your best grouping efforts. The New York Times’ popular “Connections” brainbuster features four groups of words with a common theme or commonality, but they’re shuffled in random order for you to figure out. Remember to take your time — many words have multiple meanings, so think twice before you click.

Words of the day: PASTEL, POOL, SUNTAN, SCULPTURE, PRINT, THIRD, NEUTRAL, DRAWING, NEW, ALLOY, OPEN, NEON, LOTTERY, SAVINGS, GRAY SCALES, And RAFFLE

Above is a visual clue for today’s yellow group. Maybe it’s just right for you? If you’re still scratching your head, well, I’m sorry to break it to you, but yellow is the easiest group.

Need a verbal cue? Then you’re probably not an artist. If you were, you’d know these things like the back of your hand.

Give up? This was an unexpected blow, especially because it’s not the first word that comes to mind when you see the category name. It’s one of those “only makes sense when you see it with the others” moments that make Connections so entertaining. Frustrating, but in a funny way!

Today’s answer from the yellow group is Color types and his words are GREY, NEON, NEUTRAL, And PASTEL.

Here’s your visual cue for today’s blue group. It might be your eureka moment. (No, sorry, that wasn’t a cue.) Or maybe it didn’t help at all. Hey, let’s try it.

Time for the verbal clues: One dollar and one dream. Good luck. Pick your ticket because here are today’s numbers.

No? This could have been a yellow category too if it weren’t for that one annoying word that somehow – maybe – worked with some of the others?

Today’s answer from the blue group is Chance to win a prize and his words are draw, lottery, pool, And RAFFLE.

We’re going to go out on a limb and say that’s a pretty powerful visual cue. Will it get you to the finish line? That’s the catch – you still have to find the right words.

Need the verbal hint? Are you sitting at your laptop while solving the puzzle or reading this? The answer is literally within your reach.

Give up? It’s one of those days when Green and Yellow should have switched places because the former was so easy.

Today’s response from the Green Group is Options in the File menu and his words are NEW, OPEN, PRINTAnd SAVE.

The purple group is the most difficult, so don’t be upset if this visual clue doesn’t immediately lead you to the promised land.

Here’s your verbal cue: One word is science, one is art, one is exercise, and the fourth is something that looks good but may not be the healthiest for you.

Purple definitely lived up to its reputation as the “hardest band” today. Without the answer, those four words really have no obvious connection to each other.

Today’s answer from the purple group is What “bronze” could mean and his words are ALLOY, SCULPTURE, THIRD PARTY, And SUNTAN.

This concludes another Connections weekend – see you next Saturday!
