Young woman stabbed to death “after argument with man near train station” | News from Britain

A woman was stabbed to death after an altercation with a man in the car park of a train station in West Sussex.

Police were called to Station Way in Crawley, West Sussex, at around 7.10am following an “altercation”.

After officers combed the area, they discovered the victim in a parking lot with numerous stab wounds.

She was treated by paramedics, but they could not save her and she was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

A 26-year-old man from Crawley was arrested shortly afterwards on suspicion of murder, Sussex Police said.

Officers arrested him on Stephenson Road, about a mile from Station Way. The man remains in police custody.

Superintendent Rachel Swinney confirmed that police are not looking for anyone else as part of the investigation.

She said: “This is a tragic incident in which a young woman has lost her life and we are working hard to find out exactly what happened.”

“Officers were able to quickly arrest a suspect, and we are not currently looking for anyone else.”

“There will now be an increased police presence in this busy area of ​​Crawley while we carry out our investigation.”

“I would urge anyone with concerns to speak to a local officer.”

The woman’s name has not been released publicly and police are believed to be attempting to contact her family.

Within hours of her discovery, forensic officers were seen at the scene of the stabbing and police presence in the area has been increased.
