Yung Filly: Rapper and YouTube star arrested in Australia and charged with rape

Popular British rapper and YouTuber Yung Filly has been arrested in Australia on rape and assault charges.

Internet personality born Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, 29, appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Thursday (October 9) and was charged with three counts of assault and four counts of sexual penetration without consent.

He is also accused of one count of impeding another person’s breathing or circulation by applying pressure to the neck.

Mr Barrientos is currently on tour in Australia. The alleged attack on a woman in her 20s occurred in a Perth hotel room on September 28, following an appearance at Bar120 nightclub on September 27.

He was arrested in Brisbane and extradited to Perth on Wednesday (October 8). He remains in custody.

ABC Australia reports that Mr Barrientos is being represented by Perth lawyer Seamus Rafferty SC.

His bail request was rejected by police prosecutor Julius Depetro.

Photos of the woman’s injuries allegedly caused by Mr Barrientos were presented to the judge by the prosecution, who said: “No ordinary person can consent under these circumstances.”

“There is a history of violent acts evident on her body… We say that these photos and what is alleged are beyond the Hellenic, beyond what could be considered a consensual act.”

Mr Barrientos was born in Cali, Colombia and moved to the UK with his family as a child, first to Orpington in Bromley and then to south-east London, where he became interested in the local grime scene.

He rose to fame in 2017 after he began releasing songs online, while also building a huge online following through his YouTube channel, which has 1.4 million subscribers and around 120 million total views since he joined in 2013.

His most notable releases include 2020’s “Confidence” with fellow rappers Chunkz and Geko, 2022’s “Day to Day” with grime veteran Chip, and his collaboration with Brit Award-winning star Aitch on “Grey” , which was released earlier this year.

In recent years he has also hosted a number of shows including Yung Filly’s celebrity lock-in And Hot property on the BBC; He appeared on Channel 4 The big celebrity bake-off in 2022.

He is a Crystal Palace FC fan and took part in the Soccer Aid charity match in 2020.
