Joshua Zimmerman, the accused murderer who escaped DeSoto County authorities before a June court hearing, barricaded himself in a west Chicago restaurant tonight.

This is reported by Chicago media, including ABC 7 Television.

According to reports, Zimmerman is alone in the restaurant and there are no innocent civilians with him.

Zimmerman was wanted in DeSoto County for murder and robbery. As we have previously reported on this website, he has also been charged with crimes in Houston, Texas and elsewhere.

On the morning of June 14, he was scheduled to attend a court hearing in DeSoto County Court when he managed to leave the building and essentially disappeared. He has not been seen since, until U.S. Marshals reported his appearance at the Seafood Junction restaurant on West Madison Street, which is ironically three blocks west of the United Center, where the Democratic National Convention is currently underway.
